Special attacks…

So as I implement all the character upgrades, I’ve been re-thinking a few of them.

One of the changes I made this week was having the special attacks occur after you charge your weapon with zombie hits, rather than at random intervals. This has the benefit of making special attacks a reward for fighting skill, while also allowing the player to strategically decide when to use them (because after you charge your weapon, you won’t go into special-attack mode until you tap the weapon icon).

Here’s an animated .gif showing how this works (the overlay text is for illustration only):

    Great idea!
I like how u now have to think “should I save the skill for when I’m in a tough spot? Or should I use it anyways and just be careful not to get killed later?”

Also I create a scenario for a possible expansion

(this is for the christmas) The way to get to the Christmas island would be to find Santa Claus after u update the game and he should randomly spawn somewhere in the mainland. After u find him u can have a conversation during which u can decide whether to engage him in combat and obtain a special item or something or choose to help him with his “elf zombie problem”
After Which he would then call in a sleigh and take u to his island in a short animation. Special items can be found on this island such as:randomly scattered gifts containing toy items which can be crafted with other items to create weapons(teddy bear+bell+bomb=distracting bomb) as well as a special pet you can obtain like a reindeer. The boss of this island could be Santa after he turns into a zombie.

But this is purely a fictional scenario but it gives u an idea of the different kinds of islands you can add and ways to get to them.(P.S. Srry for crude grammar and plot line I typed this on my phone, but a response from you on this would be both great and awesome)

    Sincerely,Rene

    hi tyson
    I wanted to ask you:
1: does the strong clothes like the football helmet or the police bullet prove vest count as an armor

2: and are you making any new crafteble items and weapons like @rene’s idea the distracting bomb or like a pool cue you can use tape and a knife to make it into a spear

3: Also i know it doesn’t have online multiplayer yet but will it have like local wifi multiplayer

and one last thing Thank you for this update and for listning to our suggestions.

So I’ve been following this game for awhile and figured i would just keep up with it and not really interact with anyone on the blogs. Recently though I bought DayZ, or arma II which ended up not working on my pc. To laggy. This game is now my most anticipated game of the year, and I have a couple suggestions. Could you make a difficulty like survival where you steer from the fun and games and make it a little more hardcore like DayZ? Make thirst, hunger, make it to where you have to search for supplies. And if you can try to release the game before December? I don’t think I can wait much longer :3

  7. Rene says:

    @TachyonicCookie
I think he’s releasing it soon. Because if u check his post she’s already created the world, the characters, and the story. But all his recent posts were mostly just UI and upgrades so hell probably release next month

  8. Rene says:

    Lol I meant *HE

  9. Fadi98 says:

    @ TachyonicCookie:
he allready made food you can eat it to restore your health but the hunger like a hunger bar and water or soda and such would be very cool.

  10. TheReaperKST says:

Hey @Tyson I know this is out of subject and all but I’m still not sure if you are gonna release the computer version first (Which would be very convenient) or the ios version first. Please reply 🙂

  11. Rene says:

since zombox seems to be a side project what are you working on now then?

  12. Outlander999 says:

I can’t wait for this game!!! Go on! 🙂

@ Rene: You speak from a position of authority? Naw, ya don’t. Let Tyson make the speculations, please.

I have some ideas I thought would be cool. Here they are:

    1) the first Idea I had come up with is modes. There could be three main modes, then dlc modes that you could buy or unlock later in the game using money. Anyways, the first mode would be friendly, and what that is is where your health regenerates after a couple seconds and you don’t have to worry about food or water. The second mod would be survival, where it’s survival based and you have to worry about all survival needs, including hunger, thirst, hygiene, and things that a normal human being needs to survive. There would be illnesses in survival to, and you’d need to worry about medical as well as food. The last game mode is hardcore, where you start with nothing but a character with low stats and your health cannot be regenerated without a med pack, or blood ba like in DayZ. Food and thirst and everything will be a necessity, and supplies would be more scarce. Zombies would be a bit stronger to.

    2) a better medical system. It would be cool to break a bone, or go into shock, or become paralyzed temporarily. These hardcore medical advancements could go into the hardcore mode to make it even harder. You could implement pain pills, med kits, etc.

    3) rooftops. I know this would be a little more difficult with ow buildings look and how you enter them, but nothing would be cooler than to take shelter in a skyscraper or a 4 story hospital or even an apartment building. These buildings would be far more resourceful seems how they’re bigger and have a lot more room. Not to mention, when you get on te rooftop you may be able to walk or jump off? I hate boundaries. I would love to see this game as realistic and fun as possible. Try to steer clear o world borders or invisible walls that stop the players from doing things stupid, like jumping off a rooftop, breaking his/her leg and getting eaten by a horde of zombies.

    4) Online. It could use the same system as block land, which makes online multiplayer a lot easier to host than Minecraft. I love Minecraft but it makes it difficult for newer players to host a game an play with friends.

    5) last idea, pretty basic. Modding support. Same with Minecraft, there could be a place to post mod downloads on the zombox site and while in-game, just simply click “mods” in the start menu and be taken to a list of mods players created themselves.

–I hope you consider these, and it would be great to see them actually implemented into the game. I don’t expect them to be, like all the ideas for the medical system which could get complicated, but it would give the game a lot more potential.

  16. Tyson Ibele says:

    Hey guys,

    @ Rene:

I like the scenario you described but the game is mainly going to be a sandbox-style environment. So, there won’t be any very specific scenarios like that.

As for 3GS and below….it probably won’t work on those devices. I’ve tested on 3GS and it doesn’t have enough memory to run the game. Maybe in the future I’ll try to tweak the game so it requires less memory, but for now you need a 4G or above device to run it.

    @ Fadi98:

    1) Yes, those types of clothes give you an armor boost.

    2) Right now I’m not making any more craftable items, but I probably will in the future.

    3) No, it won’t have any kind of multiplayer.

    @ TachyonicCookie:

The game is already very difficult (if you notice, I have god-mode enabled in all my .gif animation clips, because I always die pretty quickly), and you already need to find food if you don’t eat enough. A little food icon will appear under your head letting you know that you’re hungry. I can’t remember which post it is, but if you look back at the blog posts, once of them contains info about it.

    @ TheReaperKST:

I don’t know which versions I’ll be releasing in which order yet.

    @ TachyonicCookie:

    1) Currently there will only be 1 mode in the game, which is a difficult survival mode. Although, different areas of the city will have various levels of difficulty and different types of zombies. More about this will be revealed later.

    2) The game already has pills, med kits, gauze, syringes, banaids, etc…as various healing aids. There isn’t a complex body-damage system though, just a generic health bar. I’ll think about adding in some extra features there maybe.

    3) Rooftops are a no-go right now, just due to the complexity of adding them in. I like the idea a lot, though.

    4) The game is single player for now. Maybe in the distant, distant future I’ll think about a multiplayer component, but I can guarantee that when it’s launched it’ll be single player only.

    5) Modding support is a very difficult thing to integrate. At best in the distant, distant future I might think about adding in a custom map creator or something. No promises about that 🙂

I just had ab idea i wanted to tell you about it is to add mine-games like skyrim when you want to open a locked chest you beed to play a pick lock mini-game. so to open a lock you need to collect pick locks from house and other places.
so that’s my idea i hope you liked it
    Thanks 🙂
